Malibu CA:

Excerpted from Ventura County Star.

A man who cannot hear or speak was rescued from Malibu Canyon early Wednesday after being stranded in the area Tuesday night, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials said.

The incident was reported about 9 p.m. by a group of hikers who said Woo Lee, 25 of Fullerton, was stranded on a 15 foot ledge 300 feet above the main road off Malibu Canyon, said Detective Matt Dunn, with the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.

Lee's fellow hikers could not assist him back to the safe area of the canyon and Lost Hills Sheriff's Station [Malibu Search and] Rescue Team and the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the incident.

Lee was located about 1 a.m. with multiple lacerations, but due to the communication barrier, rescue personnel could not sufficiently determine his injuries and he was transported to UCLA Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
