Malibu CA: Three 70 year old female hikers became lost on the Backbone Trail near Malibu Canyon and Piuma Road. Malibu SAR personnel contacted the missing persons by cell phone and determined they were located on an isolated fire road. Two teams of rescuers drove fire roads in the area, locating the missing persons unhurt. The hikers were returned to their vehicle.
