Malibu CA: In one of the strangest rescues Malibu SAR has experienced, a 15 year old suffering from seizures needed to be lowered from a treehouse at the bottom of a canyon and then evacuated to the roadside to an awaiting ambulance. Malibu SAR and LACO Fire personnel responded to a call for assistance of a female juvenile reportedly suffering from seizures in a treehouse off of Mulholland Hwy near the famous "Rock Store". Upon arrival, personnel attempted to reach the patient who was up in the treehouse at the bottom of the canyon. Additionally, a rescue paramedic was lowered from an LA County Fire Copter to assess the patient. Medications were administered to treat her condition as rescue personnel determined an evacuation plan. Because of overhead wires and a huge oak tree canopy, it was decided not to do a copter winch out and use Malibu SAR's truck winch system. Operating as of the operation was a vehicle over the side call, Malibu SAR personnel packaged and evacuated the patient to the roadside where an awaiting ambulance transported her to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
