Malibu CA: Two USC students who are experienced climbers found themselves stuck in the Rock Pool/Gorge area of Malibu Creek State Park as darkness fell Saturday evening. Malibu SAR and LACO Fire personnel were dispatched to retrieve the uninjured climbers. On scene, a rescue helicopter stood by as a four person team of Malibu SAR personnel hiked into the Rock Pool area, climbing approximately 100 feet above the location of the stranded climbers. The team set up a rope rescue system that was used to lower rescuers to the victims. The victims were secured into the system and raised up to safety. The climbers were then hiked out by Malibu SAR to awaiting paramedics, who reviewed their condition and released them.
