Malibu CA: A male hiker weighing a purported 300 lbs was stranded on a cliff approximately 175 feet down from Malibu Canyon near the Sheriff's Honor Marker. Malibu SAR personnel responded to the scene, rappeled over the side of the steep canyon wall, making their way to the stranded hiker. Upon initial investigation, Malibu SAR personnel were able to obtain information leading them to believe that the hiker may have suffered a fall and possibly had been unconscious prior to their arrival. The rescue was elevated to a medical emergency, summoning paramedics and firefighters from LACO Fire Stations 88 and 125. Malibu SAR personnel, using two team winch trucks, packaged and raised the patient to the top of Malibu Canyon where he was treated by paramedics.
